Description Philippe Didier 2026-02-07 14:34:22 CET
Hi

I have just tested Live Mageia10 Plasma Beta1 with Nvidia drivers

It starts differently than Alpha1 :
No plymouth boot screen but a black background with hash signs for each step :
- installing rpms
- building drivers
- installing drivers

But there are not the usual steps (choose language ; accept licence ; choose keyboard; choose time ; etc)

after a long time, the HDMI TV displays a clone from the primary monitor :
both of them are filled with the MageiaWelcome window with no frame...

Clicking on Live Mode changes the display : the screen is now spread over the two devices the left part of the Mageia Menu is outside of the screen
Clicking on Plasma System settings allows to come back to the second monitor being a clone
The Mageia menu appears now but is unresponsive

Ctrl+alt+F4 leads to a black screen

The only way to shutdown is Ctrl+alt+Del : the choice appears on a black background
But clicking on shutdown doesn't shutdown : need to manually power off

Nevertheless I could explore (with Mageia9) the content of the logs and journal saved on the persistent partition

I will attach them here (the journal has been compressed and is readable by anybody)

Nevertheless

compressed system.journal

compressed system.journal
To obtain this I selected for journalctl a path to the folder where I have copied the system.journal and the logs from the persistent partition
journalctl --directory=/path-to-where-the-Live_logs-are stored/ > journal.txt

To conclude
No improvement for Beta1 since Alpha1

Post scriptum

If needed I can attach the characteristics of my computer

I may say it's not ready : need a Beta2

We will probably make a new round of beta1, like we did for alpha

We do not release a version officially until we are satisfied, and until then we generate round1, round2 etc of alpha/beta 1/2/3...

I thought I had already assigned this; doing so now.
I mentioned this bug on a Council post as a reason *not* to release the current Beta ISOs. But I do not know whether it arrived.

I have discovered that this bug is caused by the presence of a persistent partition on the pendrive that's the case too for Alpha1 and Beta0c and Beta0e

A bug report will be created for the problems induced specifically by the persistent partition
