Description andré blais 2021-12-05 05:01:27 CET
Description of problem:
Before the recent update to Libreoffice 7.2.2.2, detached tool bars could be readily moved.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
release 1.mga8 x86_64

How reproducible:
see below

Steps to Reproduce:
1. detach a tool bar (unlock tool bars if not already the case)
2. move it with the moise from the initial menu position, to another location, and release the mouse button.
3. try to move the tool bar again, with the mouse. The tool bar sometimes moves briefly, to quickly return to where it was.

Please note : this was reproduceable on versions downloaded from upstream.
A bug report to upstream (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145287)
showed that it does not affect ms windows versions.

Feedback from a user testing on Linux says it is related to gtk3.
So it may be the problem lies with gtk3, or to a change in how libreoffice now uses gtk3.
Which is why I am now reporting it here.

Thank you for the report, and the upstream bug ref.
If & when that gets dealt with, can you please remove the UPSTSREAM Keyword on *this* Mageia bug, to unblock it.
This will end up with Thierry, so provisionally assigning it to him pending that event.

I did not try in 7.2.2.2, but it works for me in 7.2.3.2-1, from updates_testing - note it is not considered ready for QA yet. Also see our other open bug for LO: bug 29647

I am using Plasma desktop.

Bottom line: Fix seem to be in its way :)

@Morgan
Thanks for the positive feedback ..

However upstream 7.3.0.0 has the same symptoms on my system as 7.2.2.2.
(I installed it in parallel.)

With the Mate desktop, I have the gtk3 version of libreoffice installed.
With Plasma you would probably have the kf5 version installed, which from comments upsteam is likely not affected.

Also I found that your version of Libo is in cauldron, and gave an error when I tried to install it on my mga8.

Maybe the other bug for LO is related to gtk3 as well ?
Comment 4 Morgan Leijström 2021-12-06 10:15:44 CET
Ah problems together with gtk3 :(

No the other bug i do see on Plasma.

For the version i run, it is in .../mageia/distrib/8/x86_64/media/core/updates_testing/

We stopped supporting Mageia 8 almost 8 months ago
https://blog.mageia.org/en/2023/12/30/mageia-8-end-of-life/

That means we also stopped fixing Mageia 8 bugs and that this bug report needs to be closed, regardless of whether it was fixed for Mageia 8 or not.

If this particular bug did not get fixed for Mageia 8, then we do regret that.

If this issue is still present in Mageia 9 or cauldron, then please reopen this report, write a comment and adjust the "Version:" field.

If you are not yet a member of one or our teams, then please consider becoming one. https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Contributing
Mageia is a community project, meaning that we, the users, make Mageia together.

The more active contributors we have, the more bug reports will get fixed.
Besides, being active in a team can be very rewarding. It was and is certainly rewarding to me :-D

Bug 33449 is lifting an update.
See that bug: There is already a version in blogdrake repo
 - you could try if that work?

Not sure if fixed by the version o just is a change in upstream
I have first to unlock position of toolbars, then dettach and the toolbar becomes a side toolbar, then dettach again and move without see that the toolbar moves in any moment

@andré blais did you try delete or rename ~/.config/libreoffice or test in new user ?
I not will be surprised if legacy configuration make some noise

Good idea for test,
but it still doesn't work with my current version 7.6.7.2 x86_64

I renamed my config so it was easy to restore.
I had somehow managed to get it more or less (but not quite) where I want it.

In my test it went to an unusable location, so it will surely affect anyone wanting to detach the tool bar.
