Thank you for reporting and searching upstream :)

I see it too. Same LO version.
Plasma, Kernel 5.14.17-desktop-1, nvidia-current, Swedish locale

Nice you found the upstream bug.
Full bug https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145419

Notable: "The whole thing is about popup and focus handling in Qt"

Annd "It is true with 7.2.2 the problem does not arise until the second change of font or font size. To get the cursor back you can also click on the menu."

- I can confirm both statements.

Master continues to work fine after these. Let's close.

Last post in upstream bug tell 10 december:

7.3

Comment 5 Morgan Leijström 2022-01-09 16:17:39 CET
I confirm the problem is fixed in 7.3.0RC1 / 7.3.0.1

  rpm packages downloaded from
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/?type=rpm-x86_64&version=7.3.0

First I uninstalled all Mageia LO packages
(which also removed gnome-documents, unoconv, sushi)

Filetype association broke, probably easy to fix but i personally don't care right now

  Fixed bugs:
I did not find lists for Alpha0, nor Alpha1, versions they mention.
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.3.0/Beta1
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.3.0/RC1
This bug 145419 is not listed, and probably the problem did never show on 7.3

  Release plan:

WORKAROUND:

Per https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29862#c14 and 15,
removing libreoffice-kf5, and have libreoffice-gtk3 instead,
makes this bug disappear.

Maybe it would be good to put in mga8 errata?

Comment 7 Morgan Leijström 2022-01-12 16:33:27 CET
I have put the workarounds in a forum post, which also link here.

https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=14453

Per Bug 29862 we will not try to fix this upstream problem with 7.2 series.

Comment 8 Morgan Leijström 2022-01-13 11:31:55 CET
To uninstall libreoffice-kf5 you have to have libreoffice-x11 installed.

So:

Make sure libreoffice-gtk3 and libreoffice-x11 are installed, then uninstall libreoffice-kf5. (all can be done in one go in drakrpm)
Comment 9 David Schaller 2022-01-13 19:36:09 CET
I realize this is an upstream bug, but it's one that makes LibreOffice-qt basically unusable. Hope this gets fixed soon either upstream or another way. How far do you have to downgrade LO to escape this? (I don't remember it in the 7.0 series.)
Comment 10 Morgan Leijström 2022-01-13 19:39:56 CET
Upstream bug say 7.1 may be affected too.

You can use 7.3 RC1 from upstream, see comment 5

I believe, not sure, we will update to 7.3 some time after it is released.
Comment 11 Morgan Leijström 2022-02-07 17:55:21 CET
update to 7.3 requested in bug 29991
Comment 12 Morgan Leijström 2022-04-22 11:43:47 CEST
Fixed with Bug 30306 - New version of libreoffice: 7.3.2.2
