Description of problem: The - probably most easy way to do - file transfers between Mageia and an Android device does not work any more: in Mageia 5 you could connect and mount (MTP) an Android file system and than transfer files from Mageia to Android by simple drag-and-drop between Dolphin windows opened on the 2 file-systems. With Mageia-6 (fully updated snapshot 1 cauldron) drag-and-drop fails with the message (Android device = Samsung A5, Android Version 5.0.2): Access denied. Could not write to . Note that it is still possible to do a "copy" in the window on Mageia and then a "paste" in the window on Android - an efficient work-around Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): dolphin-16.03.80-1.mga6 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. USB connect the Android device (and set it for MTP transfer if necessary) 2. Open the device (Phone directory) with Dolphin 3. Open a second Dolphin window on a Mageia directory 4. Try to transfer a file from Mageia to Android by drag-and-drop

Is it still valid with Plasma 5.7 and KDE Applications 16.04.3 ?
Did install of Applications 16.0.4 and Plasma 5.7 The problem still does exist, but has changed aspect: - dragging from a dolphin window on the Android device to a dolphin window on the Mageia PC is OK - dragging from Mageia PC to Android still does not work, but is now rejected with the message "Access denied. Could not write to ." However, the workaround of doing a "Copy" in the Mageia Dolphin window and than a "Paste one file" (ctrl-V) into the Android window still works; also, using Dolphin to delete a file in the Android window works: Dolphin has access to the target directory on the Android device, this appears to be more than a simple privilege problem

is it still valid with plasma 5.8.6 ?

I some switched to xfce some time ago - I will create a system with plasma and check, but wont come to do this before a couple of days.
The OS partition with Plasma has been installed (most recent updates as off this evening). But Plasma (Dolphin?) now has a persistent problem with mtp: when the USB link to the android device is plugged in and Dolphin opened on the Android file-system, immediately a popup window appears (header = "Error - KIO Client"). Occasionally, the popup does not appear and I obtain a Dolphin window, but that window than contains the error message otherwise shown in the popup): "The process for the mtp protocol died unexpectedly" That makes testing drag and drop between Dolphin windows impossible until this mtp problem has been fixed. I realize, I should now open a bug on mtp not working with Dolphin - but, lacking experience and dexterity with plasma and plasma tools I am not the right user to do this. The problem looks specific to plasma: no problem to communicate over mtp with thunar (XFCE) and to drag files between thunar windows.
We have some similar bugs on connection problem between phone and Mageia, especially(?) Plasma. I post here links between the bugs so you with similar problem can browse around. Maybe some can be duplicate, some resolved old, some get updated with more input. Bug 7638 - Better MTP device support / add jmtpfs in mageia repositories (spec file and udev rules+scripts provided) Bug 21095 - Accessing my android's files through MTP in Dolphin fails

That's surprising that it works with thunar. What is thunar using under the hood? Anyway, I'll close this as a duplicate of a newer bug that is also for Dolphin, but has slightly more information. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 21095 ***
