Description Henri de Solages 2014-06-24 05:05:19 CEST
Description of problem:
In LibreOffice Spreadsheet, if I select a column by the mouse (by clicking on its letter) and then try to move it by clicking on the selected column and dragging and dropping it onto another column, then all the KDE session freezes (not only LibreOffice), even Alt+Tab doesn't work, clicking anywhere (including KDE taskbar) doesn't work, but the cursor still follows the mouse, in the form of an arrow plus a grey thick rectangle. Ctrl+Alt+Delete has no effect, but I can leave the session by Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. The problem can also appear in moving a row, but it is not always reproducible.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
LibreOffice Calc 4.1.5.3-1mga4
KDE 4.11.4

How reproducible:
Always (for moving columns), often (for moving rows). I tried on several users sessions and on 3 computers. Theses computers use NFS extensively, but the tries were done with local files. Note that the problem doesn't appear on Fedora 20 with Gnome 3.10.4 LibreOffice 4.2.4.2.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start the computer with Mageia 4, KDE.
2. Login.
3. Start LibreOffice Spreadsheet.
4. Write a few characters in a cell.
5. Click on one of the 2 columns name (letter) at the top of it. Release the mouse.
6. Click any where on the column and drag and drop it onto another column.

Confirming.

However, when shortly going to another tty with ctrl+alt+Fn, on returning to KDE the column gets immediately pasted in the right place and there is no more freeze.

If I don't go to another tty the screen remains frozen.

I cannot reproduce the bug in IceWM with the same oxygen-gtk theme as KDE has, so guessing it is a KDE issue

Sorry, don't know which *kde* package to assign to, nor to whom of you two, so leaving that up to you :-)

Summary: Session freezing when dragging and dropping any column => KDE session freezing when dragging and dropping any column in LibreOffice Calc

I cannot reproduce
Are you using the Qt (KDE) or the Gtk backend for libreoffice ?
(gtk should be used)
To check you can try change widget style either for KDE/Qt applications or for Gtk applications. Which one actually affects libreoffice will give the answer.

Thank you, but what is "widget style" and how to change it for KDE/Qt applications and for Gtk applications?
Comment 4 Jüri Ivask 2014-07-12 12:41:49 CEST
Can also confirm in Mageia 4 i586.
Just switching to another tty did not help but when I logged there in as root and ran "top" there, then the desktop was unfrozen and the cells got pasted.
Workaround is to remove libreoffice kde integration package and the bug seems to be similar (or the same as) to bug 11996...
