The problem is the same as it was for Mageia2 see bug 5533 see bug 4997 see bug 5536 see bug 6310 the workaround is the same as for Mageia 2 : add the kernel option "rdloaddriver=pata_xxx" xxx being : via, amd, jmicron or piix depending on the hardware... Unless it can be corrected, this workaround may be added in the Errata for Mageia 3 with the same text as for Mageia2 https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_2_Errata#IDE_controllers_and_kernel_module_load_order.
Still valid MGA3 Alpha3 LiveDVD

MGA3 Beta1 KDE LiveDVD seems to be OK : no more need to use the workaround :add the kernel option "rdloaddriver=pata_amd" so it can be closed RESOLVED FIXED, at least for this computer : Computer with ASUS M2N SLI mainboard Nvidia Geforce 210 graphic card two internal SATA harddisks (using sata_nv module) one internal IDE harddisk (using pata_amd module) one external usb harddisk one external firewire harddisk one internal IDE DVD writer (using pata_amd module) one internal IDE DVD reader (using pata_amd module) Anyone having a computer needing one of the three following modules: pata_via pata_jmicron pata_piix may try to test this LiveDVD and verify that : the IDE harddisks appear as /dev/sdx and no more as /dev/hdx the IDE DVD CD writer or reader appears as /dev/sr0 and no more as /dev/hdx
ok thanks
