Description Marco Fuellemann 2012-05-10 22:21:51 CEST
Description of problem:
I experience several issues with release-candidate1:
1. freeze (stop booting) after first boot-step (I dont have any logs)
2. boot works if I disable ACPI. GUI does not start. (see Xorg.0.logbackup). startx does not work.
3. if I switch to console, start drakx11 and select generic-VESA-display driver, then startx works.
4. fan is very loud and notebook gets extremly hot. cpu- and disk-usage is normal low.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
I tried: kde-live-cd mageia-2-rc, other current distros are fine.
Mageia 1 runs perfect.

How reproducible:
Samsung x20 with i915, 32bit.

Steps to Reproduce:
every time I boot.
1. start kde-live-cd mageia 2 rc on my laptop

New version of Intel's driver (2.19) was pushed into repos today, could you please update driver and report back if this one works better?

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Yes, all mentioned problems still exist with Mageia2.
The heat and fan is still the biggest blocker. I dont know where the heat comes from.

These are the same symptoms I have in bug 6077

It is the same laptop actually, Samsung x20.
Comment 11 Nic Baxter 2015-03-10 03:50:33 CET

bug 6077 got fixed.
