Description of problem: The laptop is working now with kernel-desktop-4.9.35-1.mga6-1-1.mga6 With latest kernel (not tried other): the system take at least 6 min to start, waiting for network to be up, which never comes; the network is never up, neither with wired or wifi connection; some freezes are occuring during the usage; the MCC doesn't display central icons and text. Thus this system is unusable. It is just installed from LiveDVD-Plasma5. The journal reported some crashes. With the old kernel, wired and wifi connections are OK.

Can you try kernel-desktop-4.14.33-1.mga6-1-1.mga6 in updates_testing ? There is a similar report, bug 22865
Summary: No network with last kernel on DELL Inspiron 15 => Neither LAN nor WLAN with kernel-desktop-4.14.30-3 on DELL Inspiron 15, kernel-desktop-4.9.35-1.mga6-1-1.mga6 works fineKeywords: (none) => NEEDINFOSee Also: (none) => https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22865Assignee: bugsquad => kernelSource RPM: kernel-desktop-4.14.30-3 => kernel-4.14.30-3.mga6CC: (none) => marja11
Nope, this is the proprietary wl driver crashing... I've submitted a hopefully fixed broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-48.1.mga6 to nonfree/updates_testing Boot the 4.9.35 kernel, update the dkm-broadcom-wl from testing, and then reboot into 4.14 series kernels... Does it work then ?

@papoteur: Can you please test this soon-ish as if it works we want it on upcoming 6.1 isos
Hello, The laptop is in the school where my wife works. I must wait that she come back with it. Sorry. Papoteur
Hi Thomas, I just tried to install dkms-broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-48.1.mga6.nonfree Then rebooted. Driver has been rebuilt during the boot. However, I get the same symptoms. :(
Hi Thomas, Is there something else to try ?

A few things to test.... There is a 4.14.38-1 in testing... please try it also in testing the kernel-linus-4.14.38-1 to rule out (or not) Mageia patches... If those dont work, please try kernel-4.14.10-1.mga6 from updates. Its the first 4.14 kernel we released, and it's pre spectre/meltdown patches in case they give broadcom-wl a hard time...
Hello, I have installed the above kernels, uninstalled dkms-broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-48.1.mga6.nonfree, installed -wl-6.30.223.271-48.mga6.nonfree. Now all seems to work fine, with all kernels. This is confusing because it seems to the same combination as at start. There is still some errors in dmesg, but unrelated. ERROR @wl_cfg80211_get_tx_power : error (-1)
And now, with dkms-broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-48.1.mga6.nonfree and kernel 4.14.38-1.mga6, it's OK too.
Ok, so some temp glitch in the earlier dkms build them, good that it works now
