Description Morgan Leijström 2018-03-16 03:57:21 CET
Description of problem: urpmi loop -> Repair impossible!
I need to repair a broken grub. ( see Bug 22552#c21 )

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 6 64 bit install iso

__Steps to Reproduce:

1. Have an installed Mageia 6 system
1b. (more precisely this is a system including updates from updates testing)

2. Boot installer

3. At partitioning stage select all mount points like the installed system
3b deselect any formatting of any partition!!

4 I selected to add and enable all available repos from a trusted mirror
Except i could not find how to enable all repos (testing) the installed system use :(

-> GUI now show a message it is evaluating installed packages
But... it never finishes!
On vt3(?) (Ctrl-Alt-F3) i see messages scrolling by very fast, seems like a loop. I halted the scroll using Fn-ScrLk, and took a photo and will attach, as well as the log, using "bug".
I also grabbed log using "bug".

screen photo: after 2000s memory got full...

Memory eventually got full, maybe that is a hint?

Repair should be done slightly different and maybe that had worked in this case if not for Bug 22794 - Installer fails to offer upgrade

Summary: Installer/urpmi get stuck in loop evaluating already installed packages -> Repair impossible! => Installer/urpmi get stuck in loop evaluating already installed packages
Severity: critical => major

Is this still valid with current version of our tools? In Cauldron? In Mageia 7?

Ask on the qa-discuss and dev mailing lists for tests. The qa-bugs list is for stable updates.
