@ Carlos

Please read https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly#How_to_file_a_package_request and update this bug report accordingly. Please pay special attention to the Summary, at the top of this report: it should start with the package name in _lower_case_ letters.

Hello Maria,

I did read that and filled the URL, which was missing.
But I can't for the life of me understand why should I fill a package name of a package that doesn't exist. I mean this field:

"(Source RPM:) give the name of the package (not an url to a mirror)"
help: When you type "rpm -qif /path/to/the/application", this is the value of the line named "Source RPM"

Or it is very loosely explained or the problem is on my side. This is a new package,,,
Is it me who have to name the new package??
With what nomenclature rules?
Sorry, but I'm totally lost here.

@ Carlos,

Thanks for the link to upstream.

I adjusted the sentence about the Source RPM in our wiki page, it is OK to leave that field empty if you do not know which name it should get.

I'm wondering what the sentence

"Soon, micropayments and better ads will give users and publishers a better deal." on www.brave.com means.

Assigning to the default assignee for package requests.

This should explain it:
"With Brave, you can choose whether to see ads that respect your privacy or pay sites directly. Either way, you can feel good about helping fund content creators."

And this link:

Anyway, in the broser menu there is a "Bravery" entry that has 3 options:

1 - Replace ads (the default setting)
2 - Block ads
3 - Allow ads and tracking

Thanks, Carlos.

Btw, in case someone considers packaging it, the license is MPLv2.0 according to: https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/blob/master/LICENSE.txt

Morning,

I happy to see this request.

I do not really know/understand the license but, is there any chance that I package this software under the tutelage of a packager? I'd like to learn how to and before seeing this request I had in mind the wish to do it.

Maybe someone could indicate me who tries to package this one ?

Cheers,

Hello Antoine,

I have reported this bug, so I think that I should make some remarks, although I can't answer to your questions.

You can download the .rpm package from the Brave web site and install it in your Mageia, it works. That's what I've been doing.
On the other hand, the Brave browser is not yet stable enough to be used and replace the browser that you use every day.
A few days ago I was paying an auction that I won on eBay and the Paypal login didn't work, no matter what. It didn't accept my password. I had to do it with Firefox.
It's still early days for the Brave browser, but it is interesting, it is very fast to load the pages.

Regards

You don't need to install fedora rpm there is raw pre compiled binary available just extract and start it.

wget -O brave.tar.bz2 https://laptop-updates.brave.com/latest/linux64 && tar xvjf brave.tar.bz2

It doesn't seem possible to download and install a rpm file from brave.com.
I looked around but only found instruction for setting repositories but no way to download rpms.
