Description of problem: On an up to date rolling Cauldron(KDE4) and also in the recently released Live KDE4 DVD of M3B3, in live mode on the same PC, the desktop display is corrupted when certain web pages are displayed in Firefox (see URL shown above). It can also occur when switching back and forth to full screen view (F11) in Firefox. The corruption causes the main window of Firefox to go black but window decorations are still displayed. Any other application windows that were already open are not affected but any application that is then opened shows the same symptoms as the Firefox window. If it's a simple message display with no window decorations, e.g. clicking on the Application Launcher Menu icon, a black rectangle is displayed. The situation can be recovered by simply logging out (<Ctrl><Alt><BSpace><Bspace>), and then log back in again. I have monitored journalctl and .xsession-errors but there are no obvious messages of any problems at the time of the error. My videocard is an Intel 82Q35 Express Integrated Graphics Controller, using the "Intel 810 and later" module. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):Firefox 17.0.3 How reproducible:The problem is totally repeatable. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
Some progress: If I de-select "System Settings>Desktop Effects>Enable desktop effects at startup", the problem goes away. If I then try to re-select the option and "Apply" it I get this message: "21 desktop effects could not be loaded" and the details of the error: "For technical reasons it is not possible to determine all possible error causes. Desktop effect system is not running." Can anyone point me to the package that controls this setting or should I be reporting this on http://bugs.kde.org ?

I have the same problem. With KDE effects enabled, when I open firefox, kde gets corrupted and I have to re-login. I tested several actions, but only if the problem is solved completely disable desktop effects. I hope you can resolve this error for the final release of Mageia 3.

I have found that if I activate the system for raster graphic qt, I have not been generated this error for now.
With graphical system raster-qt also corrupts open kde with firefox. I had to remove all stationery for the error does not occur. Keep trying options to see if that resolves with some configuration, or else is working for the developers fix this bug.
I still have the same problem (and workaround) when using Mageia-3-RC-LiveDVD-KDE4-x86_64-DVD.iso, in live mode. I have not installed it yet, but I see no reason why the installed system should be any different.
It looks like the updates that I applied on 13may2013 have cured the problem. I can now enable desktop effects and Firefox no longer causes corruption of the KDE desktop. There were 145 packages updated and I've no idea which one has solved the problem. I'll mark this bug as fixed.

After installing yesterday in Mageia 3 Release, I tested the system, and navigating with Firefox, I still get the same error. No it is due. My computer is an Asus Eeepc 1005 PE. I thought the final version of the distribution and after seeing your comments, this would be addressed, but this has not happened. When I start surfing the internet, regardless of the page you are viewing is the time, suddenly KDE is corrupted and empty out the windows. I wish I could solve this problem because I want to make Mageia 3 as my main system, but I need stability to work on it and this error causes the session have to restart every time you surf the internet.
