Description Jeffrey Bruton 2012-12-10 07:56:10 CET
Description of problem:
Start with a working box with M2 installed and the Media Sources list populated with a Full Set and selection on the list user defined. Perform an Upgrade using any M3-A3 install media. Result is Media Sources list is completely deleted and appears as if from a fresh install with only the install CD media on the list and selected. Upgrades can not alter user defined parameters (without notice and ability to opt out). This is a prime example of data loss and is unacceptable.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 3 Alpha 3

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install M2 off any install media.
2. Use MMC to download Full Set of Media Sources and user configure.
3. Upgrade using any M3-A3 install media.
4. Reboot after upgrade is finished and log into DE.
5. Use MMC to view Media Sources list and notice list is empty except for install media.

Comment 1 Manuel Hiebel 2012-12-10 12:57:12 CET
I'm not sure this can be release_critical

CC: (none) => thierry.vignaud
Source RPM: Any M3 A3 Install Media => drakx-installer-stage2
Whiteboard: (none) => 3alpha3

Comment 2 Anne Nicolas 2013-03-13 14:50:37 CET
This is not release critical, it can be easily fixed after upgrade (even if this should be fixed)

Priority: release_blocker => High
CC: (none) => ennael1

This is one thing which brings the most negative comments for mdv/mga, the need to manually configure sources and eg. the dvd being the only media after install/upgrade.

I don't feel we should be reducing priority on this.
Comment 4 Dick Gevers 2014-11-15 08:51:17 CET
Remains relevant.

Can be considered of duplicate of 16002, which we are trying to solve although man power is low.
