Description of problem: X is having some weird memory leak that i don't know how to trace or debug. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): I actually have no idea which package is causing it :/ How reproducible: Quite easy to reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. run KDE 2. start GTK application (didn't test but might do the same with QT apps) which has tray icon that blinks (xchat, pidgin) 3. make that icon blink 4. wait a day or two and X should use at least 200+ MB of memory (or the whole X may just crash) I'm not sure if it's KDE, gtk apps or X that is causing the problem. But i know that it's more than just annoying :) If i stop the icon from blinking, leaking will also stop.

On my system the one to blame is plasma-desktop (at least xrestop shows plasma-desktop). And it seems to happen with cauldron as well. So the bug is still there and i don't think it's a problem in X.

Can I just add the same problem exists in Mageia 1. Is there some common factor that means that others aren't finding this? For example, I'm using KDE and the hardware is an ATI Radeon HD 4350. Hang on... The reports referenced above all refer to the Radeon driver. Is this our common element?

No, it isn't. My problem is happening on Intel and Nvidia hardware.
Upstream bug.
