I use Mageia release 2 (Official) for x86_64 and Kernel 3.4.13-desktop-1.mga2 on a 4-processor x86_64.

I also use KDE 4.8.5.

PING ??

I found this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=12054636#post12054636), and I tested this on LINUX MINT, and it works, except Brightness.

Could you integrate this on Mageia 2 ?

Comment 6 Manuel Hiebel 2013-10-22 12:19:44 CEST
This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 7 Manuel Hiebel 2013-11-23 16:16:04 CET
Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 8 Paul T 2014-01-01 20:07:18 CET
I can confirm this bug exists on Mageia 3 on an Asus X202E. xev does not show any changes when I get Fn+F5 or Fn+F6 (brightness down/up). I was able to change the brightness manually with the following command

echo 4882 > sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness

(4882 is the max number it would let me use) Do we know if this is going to be fixed in Mageia 4? (This isn't happening on my laptop, so I can't try a Mageia 4 beta just yet...)

Comment 9 Paul T 2014-01-01 20:16:14 CET
Added note, adding

acpi_osi="!Windows 2012"

to the bootloader seems to resolve the issue. If that's good enough for a fix, then this can be closed (although it would be nice if it worked out of the box)!

Then please attach output of dmidecode, and we'll make it work oob

I no longer use Mageia, but, this shortcut key doesn't work with KDE, but, on GNOME, it works....

It's may be a KDE problem ?
Comment 14 Adrien D 2014-01-01 21:20:15 CET
Nothing work on Mageia 2 (My bug was opened for Mageia2.
My previous comment is for Mageia 3 !
Comment 15 aguador 2014-01-09 22:46:19 CET
I am not sure if this is the same problem or not, but with:

Mageia 3 - Win 7 dual boot (grub)
   Asus A53S laptop

Fn+F2 wifi and Fn+F10,11,12 volume controls do not work with either:

   "linux (/boot/vmlinuz)" or
   "desktop 3.10.24-2.mga3 (/boot/vmlinuz-3.10.24-desktop-2.mga3)".

However, the Fn keys DO work with the earlier:

   "desktop 3.8.13.4-1.mga3"

It would appear that a change or changes in the last updates are causing a problem.

You may want to try current cauldron.

mga2 somewhere around alpha solved the problems i had regarding screen brightness (and suspend) on thinkpad T61.
