Description David Batson 2012-06-18 15:42:30 CEST
Description of problem:
In Mageia 2 64-bit KDE I am running Watchtower Library 2011 in 64-bit WINE. Normally there should be a choice of fonts, however I am left with a poor default font and no choices. Starting the program from Console reveals "Wine cannot find the FreeType font library. To enable Wine to use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than or equal to 2.0.5."

I already had lib64freetype6 installed. If I install libfreetype6 (32-bit) in addition, the Watchtower Library crashes when I try to launch it.

In Fedora 17 Gnome I do not have this problem.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
lib64freetype6-2.4.9-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm
libfreetype6-2.4.9-1.mga2.i586.rpm

How reproducible:
Install libfreetype6 and launch Watchtower Library 2012

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install libfreetype6 on 64-bit system
2. Launch Watchtower Library 2011 using WINE
3. Watchtower Library 2011 crashes

WINE with libfreetype6 (32-bit) installed

This shows the output from console when libfreetype6 is installed. This is when Watchtower Library 2011 crashes.

WINE without libfreetype6 installed showing dependency

This shows the output from console indicating the dependency of Watchtower Library 2011 on freetype.

What Fedora 17 provides that works properly

This shows some info on what I have installed in Fedora 17 Gnome 64-bit on the same laptop. Here on Fedora I have a choice of fonts in Watchtower Library 2011 and no crashes.

One more thing. Initially I had lib64freetype6 installed from the tainted repository. I then installed libfreetype6 from the tainted repository. This resulted in the same behavior as described above.

Disabling the tainted repositories; using rpm --oldpackage I reverted back to the core (non-tainted) version of lib64freetype6 and then installed libfreetype6 from core (non-tainted) with no difference (from tainted) regarding Watchtower Library 2011 running from WINE.

seems a duplicate, even I don't understand the cause

I've run "Update your system" which included updates for wine32 and wine64 among other things.

Now Watchtower Library 2011 doesn't crash on loading, and after installing libfreetype6 I can access other fonts. Still have a problem with one of the drop down menus (Library) in Watchtower Library 2011 crashing the program once I start moving through it, but I can access the submenu choice for choosing fonts directly with F2, and from there select different (freetype) fonts. The other drop down menus seem to work fine.

Will add new text from Konsole when wine crashes.

Not directly related to the original bug reported, but I discovered I needed to install libkwineffects1 to elimate crashing of the app: "Watchtower Library 2011".

Installed:
libkwineffects1-4.8.5-1.2.mga2
wine-gecko-1.4-1.mga2
wine32-1.4.1-1.2.mga2
lib64kwineffects1-4.8.5-1.2.mga2
wine64-gecko-1.4-1.mga2
wine64-1.4.1-1.2.mga2

I post this comment to help other users that search mageia bugzilla for Watchtower Library 2011.
