2012-04-07 12:43 CEST, AL13N
Details

Description AL13N 2011-04-05 22:52:31 CEST
Description of problem:

you see an overview with sizes, and you create a partition, and you're asked to enter partition size, but seeing free space in that second wizard window would be much easier to install

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

actually, entering a partition size larger than disk or unpartitioned space size, is not corrected. you are allowed (even in non-advanced mode) to do that.

In non-advanced, IIRC, you're given a slider to move for the size. How would you enter a larger size ?

In advanced mode, if you type a size number greater than the available space, it just replaces it with the maximum allowed, which is convenient. It's easier to type 99999999 and let the tool reset it to the max rather than try to type the max accurately.

Ah, my mistake, I missed the bit about the TEXT installer. Sorry for the noise.

@AL13N
Was this still an issue when installing Mageia 1 or 1 rc?

Comment 7 AL13N 2011-10-09 08:14:36 CEST
afaik nothing has been done to the text installer since before release (low priority), as mentioned by ennael.

OK, let's see whether Thierry agrees. Assigning to him

Pinging, because nothing has happened with this report for more than 3 months, it still has the status NEW or REOPENED.

text installer custom partitioner size too big for disk

when in custom partitioner to make a new partition, and enter size higher than disk size, you get negative start sector.

(this also happens after already having partitions, ie: the start sector becomes smaller and thus overlaps with other partitions...
Comment 11 Pascal Terjan 2012-04-07 13:04:43 CEST
Interface uses a range and code assumes it is always within limits.
I think it should be fixed in interactive::curses to make that true, I'm testing a patch.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja
