Description Dave Hodgins 2012-06-03 21:32:19 CEST
During an online upgrade of an x86-64 system from Mageia 1 to 2,
five times during the upgrade of around 2100 packages, the upgrade
stopped with "Installation failed, some files are missing:".

The upgrade was started with removal of the mga 1 repositories,
urpmi.addmedia for the mga2 repositories, and then
urpmi --auto-select.

Some of the files "not found" were
http://twiska.zarb.org/mageia/distrib/2/x86_64/media/core/release/x11-driver-video-openchrome-0.2.905-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm
http://twiska.zarb.org/mageia/distrib/2/x86_64/media/core/release/glines-3.4.1-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm
http://twiska.zarb.org/mageia/distrib/2/x86_64/media/core/release/quadrapassel-3.4.1-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm
http://twiska.zarb.org/mageia/distrib/2/x86_64/media/core/release/mono-2.10.9-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm

Some of these happened while still running under Mageia 1, some
after rebooting into run level 3 in mageia 2, and some while in
a chroot from a Mageia 2 live cd. While in text mode, one of
the files "not found" was mariadb-core. All of the files are in
the mirror. There is something very wrong between urpmi and aria2
under x86-64.

My version upgrades have never been good using Internet.
I do a dvd upgrade first without Internet, then do a separate update using Internet.
Which generally works very well.

Maybe the problem using Internet during upgrades is related to latency and timeout ?
And/or the sustained throughput of the Internet connexion ?
(Which is not very good in my case.)

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
