Description graham tarn 2012-05-24 16:37:42 CEST
Description of problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Mageia dual LXDE (but the bug is probably across all desktop environments).
How reproducible: Log in and open the Menu: see Mageia Control Center and Network Center and cringe at the spelling.
The written English language of the UK reflects its culture and history - the form of the spelling is often based on a French origin because of 10th - 14th century influences.e.g. centre, favourites and so on
Our language is our Communication. This bug is rated as Major because it is seen as creating political and cultural division between Linux users, as one country tries to dominate through language andtoo belittle the language of another.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. select English language when install and locales London
2. log in
3. see Menu in American dialect

The drakxtools issue has been discussed before and just needs someone to volunteer to provide an en_GB "translation". (More than the menu is involved.)

Personally, I regard this as a trivial matter. It certainly does not make me feel that anyone is trying to "dominate through language".

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

There is no British English "translation" for the drakxtools. They use Americanese. The differences are relatively trivial - mainly in the spelling of a few words. (It's always been this way in Mandrake/Mandriva/Mageia.)

From time to time someone complains, but, so far as I can remember, no-one has ever been bothered enough by it to provide a "translation".
