Description of problem: Using LiveCD (checked and burned twice), after GRUB loaded "Boot Mageia 2 (Cauldron)", the boot process hangs up with the following messages: mount: special device /dev/sr does not exist losetup: failed to setup loop device: No such file or directory mount: /dev/loop0: can't read superblock dracut Warning: /sysroot has no proper rootfs layout, ignoring and removing offending mount hook dracut Warning: Can't mount root filesystem Dropping to debug shell. sh: 0: can't access tty; job control turned off Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia-2-beta3-LiveCD-KDE4-Europe1-Americas-i586-CD.iso How reproducible: Every boot. Hardware: The VGA controller is RV535 (ATI Radeon X1650 Series). I unsuccessfully tried kernel options "rdloaddriver=radeon" and "radeon.modeset=0". Thus, I'm not sure it is related.
Do you have 2 cd/dvd stations ? If so, does it work if you use the other station ?

Good point. I have 2 CD/DVD stations, but the other one can't read a CD-RW. Note that I had no trouble installing Mageia 1 on it. It works on another machine with only one CD/DVD station.
Yeah, you got bitten by a fix I did for #3334 where booting from usb sticks failed, but I forgot to account for several cds/dvds.. I will fix it for RC. So for now you need to either burn it to a ordinary cd-r, or dd the image to a usb stick.

Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

This was fixed in the rc release, if I remember correctly, so closing as fixed. Feel free to reopen, if I'm mistaken, and some people are still having problems with the live cd boot.
