Description of problem: Fresh install of Mageia 2 Beta 3 Dual CD went well WEnt to setup autologin via steps below It wouldn't action it, even if user set in root group Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia 2 Beta 3 Dual CD - default install to one partition. How reproducible: tried it twice from a clean disk, same result Steps to Reproduce: 1.Login as user 2.Start Mageia CC 3.goto Boot>Setup Autologin 4.set for yes and user listed 5.Click Ok 6.close CC and logout and reboot 7.chose standard startup 8.you get the user login screen again 9. login and password 10. go through the mcc to the same place and it's still set for autologin off

also needs Meta-task package apparently, I tried to download autologin and it wanted that first.

Anne, downloaded and installed both packages, it would not allow me to setup autologin still, maybe there is something else needed? will await RC for further testing for this.
IIRC, either gdm or kdm has to be used for the mcc autologin setup to work properly now. Just going from memory of some discussions on the developers list. Try installing one of them.

Thanks, but the problem is David, I'm using LDXE and deliberately trying to work without Gnome or KDE Components for a minimum system. However will try gdm as some gnome 'stuff' is already installed, hopefully there are not too many extra dependancies.
no, picking gdm pulls the full dt in and i'm not willing to do that, i'm trying to work with the Dual CD components! I shall d/l the autologin srcrpm and see what can be done to make it dt independant.
with the RC it's still looking for /lib64/security/pam_gnome_keyring.so Relevant 2 lines are: PAM cannot dlopen(/lib64/security/pam_gnome_keyring.so) /lib64/security/pam_gnome_keyring.so: cannot open shared object file: no such object or library PAM adding faulty module: /lib64/security/pam_gnome_keyring.so I can login with password OK

I am experiencing this bug in Mageia 2 too. Like Jon I am trying to autologin with LXDM or XDM because KDM and GDM both involve installing very many unnecessary packages. I notice when using the autologin GUI in MCC that /etc/sysconfig/autologin does not change.
