Details | Diff

Description mnaud mnaud 2012-03-26 22:51:52 CEST
Description of problem:

rsnapshot installation is not functional because of missing contab
drakesnapshot generate a non valid rsnapshot config file (missing backup interval)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

mageia 2_b2
rsnapshot-1.3.1-7.mga1
draksnapshot-0.20.3-3.mga2

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install rsnapshot
2.review /etc/rsnapshot.conf (OK fully quasi functional, need to exclude default root_backup /home/.rsnapshots)
3.there are no /etc/cron.*/rsnapshot script file so the default configuration never run

4.install draksnapshot
5.lauch draksnapshot-config
6.the graphic utility parse the default /etc/rsnapshot.conf retrieve your choice regarding what you want to backup
7.clic apply
8.look at /etc/cron.*/rsnapshot scripts files have appear (that's good)
9. look at /etc/rsnapshot.conf : there are not backup interval ?!!
if you try to launch manually rsnapshot you have the next error message :

[root@localhost etc]# /usr/bin/rsnapshot hourly
15189 (identifiant de processus) priorité précédente 0, nouvelle priorité 19
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
rsnapshot encountered an error! The program was invoked with these options:
/usr/bin/rsnapshot hourly
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
ERROR: At least one backup level must be set. rsnapshot can not continue.

so the configuration set by drakrsnap-conf is not functional
i set severity of this bug to major because the backup configuration is not functional and could result as data lost.
i let you advise about this bug severity level.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,

patch to enable backup intervals in draksnapshot

I took a look at the code of /usr/sbin/draksnapshot-config and saw that the configuration was not being written because a section of the code from line 171 was disabled.

With this section disabled the interval parameters are not written to the rsnapshot.conf file and backups fail.

On enabling the stanza it was then possible to define backup intervals in draksnapshot and backups appear to work normally.
Comment 5 Derek Jennings 2012-07-11 01:18:23 CEST
Looking at the history in the Mandriva SVN the stanza to define backup intervals was disabled in release 246742 the changelog says "do not offer anymore to configure intervals (too advanced option)"

Comparing the Mageia and Mandriva svn it appears that the wrong version of draksnapshot-config has been imported into the mageia svn

mageia has imported (I think) revision 270569
A number of revisions were made very shortly after, and the current revision is 270581 which is one day newer than 270569
https://svn.mandriva.com/viewvc/soft/draksnapshot/trunk/draksnapshot-config?view=log

To confirm I downloaded revision 270581 from the mandriva svn and it works OK

(In reply to Derek Jennings from comment #5)
So we should just upgrade draksnapshot to 0.20.4?
