I did not want to mark this bug as solved because it would not appear anymore. Some might need this workaround.

Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

I think this is a known bug. I'm guessing you have a Broadcom wireless chip and a wired ethernet port that uses the atl1c driver. I had this problem a couple of years ago with an Acer Aspire One that had this combination, and found posts on the net to the effect that the Broadcom and atl1c drivers did not play well together, and caused system lockups. Since it was a laptop and the primary interface was the wifi, I did as you did and blacklisted atl1c.

Or does the atl1c wireless driver work out-of-the box on Mageia 4 and current cauldron?

Or does the atl1c wireless > driver work out-of-the box on Mageia 4 and current cauldron? atl1c is the wired driver, which conflicts in some rare cases with Broadcom wireless drivers. As this is a really rare issue, and did not reoccur, I've added it to https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Setup_wireless_networking#known_issues_with_specific_drivers Closing as the OP has already fixed it for himself.
