Description Pierre Bonneau 2012-03-03 12:40:15 CET
Description of problem:
With the last network manager update, the network manager service doesn't works anymore

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
0.9.3.995

How reproducible:
Update cauldron from mandriavuser.be

Steps to Reproduce:
1.CCM
2.UPDATE
3.no more network connection

I see many issue ton this bug :
 - the network is down.
 - with systemd, the CCM is not able to restart it.
 - if there is more RPM to download, I doubt the system will be able to proceed the next download. I think network manager should be updated alone to avoid update issues.

Pierre

I can reproduce it here as well. I cannot start NetworkManager and it delays the boot. The temporary workaround is to disable NetworkManager by saying:

systemctl stop NetworkManager.service
systemctl disable NetworkManager.service

(The capitals letters are important as I discovered).

I'm not sure if people using GNOME will be able to start GNOME without NetworkManager.

Please update to recent Cauldron, should work OK (at least with Ethernet and USB 3G dongle). There was a typo in new refactored NM code. The suspicious "<warn> failed to allocate link cache" still persists, so I can't tell if WiFi detection really works. Someone with a WiFi card, please test it.

Ok, sorry I forgot to answer...

So, netork manager works again, but it seems that the Knetworkmanager doesn't really find it...

But, I use network manager to connect without a problem.

thanks.
