Description of problem: I plugged in my rather old wacom tablet. OK: it functions directly as a mouse, ( I have as per default x11-driver-input-wacom installed ) It feels update frequency is not full (may be the tablet that is slower updating then my mouse) but more importantly it have severe issues: 1) if i unplug it, session craches (immediately black screen, and a couple seconds later i am at login screen. 2) when i log in, i only see a desktop and pointer moving but it do not react... until after a minute or so after i tried double clicking or something: suddenly the greeting sound comes, and it reloads applications and all seem fine. 3) Tried it briefly in Gimp, and could get pressure to work, but not tilt - but i admit i am a real newbie at extra axes - I only need a precise XY input device. 4) Installed some packages i thopught could support functionality: wacomtablet-1.3.2-0.mga1.x86_64 wacomtablet-kded-1.3.2-0.mga1.x86_64 wacomtablet-kcmodule-1.3.2-0.mga1.x86_64 plasma-applet-wacomtablet-1.3.2-0.mga1.x86_64 GOOD: Now tables shows up amongst KDE system settings -> Hardware -> Input devices. BAD: when i click to open tablet settings, session immediately crash. More importantly, i need to uninstall the above to be able to get in again as same user. Comment: it could *really* help if descriptions was clear about what they are needed for; most users do not know what kc module, kcm module, kded etc are used for, or if they are incompatible! Better say something like "This is needed for configuring using KDE", "Use this to configure buttons" or similar: users perspective. Info on this tablet; web search for: wacom intuos 3 6x8 tablet I have not used it for a while and this it not very important for me, but sure could be bad for users needing it... Tried it briefly in updated cauldron, and without installing anything manually i easily got both pressure and tilt to work in gimp. (I will play more with it there later and report if i get problems) Could the driver be backported from cauldron, or do it depend on functions of later kernel and X server, possible KDE? Possibly driver is OK, and problem is with X? If someone want to try make new versions, I offer to test :) Do you want some log or test performed? I set this bug to critical because whole session crashes and user could loose data. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): x11-driver-input-wacom 0.10.11-3.mga1 How reproducible: On 2 of 2 computers:, Lenovo T61, and this ASUS main board with Intel i7 Both running fully updated mga1; kernel 2.6.38.8-desktop-10.mga, x11-server-xorg 1.10.1-1.1.mga1

This message is a reminder that Mageia 1 is nearing its end of life. In approximately 25 days from now, Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 1. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '1'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 1's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 1 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- Mageia Bugsquad
