Please port the MDV package ecryptfs-utils-95-1-mdv2012.0.x86_64.rpm to Mageia. Our kernels already contain the ecryptfs module, but it's useless without mount.ecryptfs, etc.

Any hope of this after MGA2 ?
Ping ?
well some packager read the bugs ml, but the most of the time it's useless to ping new package request unfortunately.
Is there a better way ? Actually, I was also looking for possible feedback that the package wasn't ported because we've determined that there is a better path for encryption. I originally picked ecryptfs because you could encrypt at the directory level, but if the inactivity here is because no one else find this useful, I'll either install it standalone, try to package it myself, or investigate suggested alternatives.

I'm interested in a tool to encrypt at directory or file level, too. Fedora has ccrypt (Secure encryption and decryption of files and streams) and fuse-encfs (Encrypted pass-thru filesystem in userspace), it also has ecrypt-fsutils-100 in Fc 16 and 17, so latest version Maybe we should file package requests for those other 2 tools, too, to triple the chances :-D But talking about packaging, did circumstances change and would you want, and have time, to become a Mageia packager? You already contributed a lot, by giving an impressive amount of help with many bugs. It would be great to welcome you in a Mageia team :-D

I'd love to contribute to packaging, QA, and development, but I'm less that a year into a new job, and time just doesn't allow for it right now. I'll look forward to the future, though.
The tool of choice in MGA seems to be LUKS/dm-crypt. I have found stuff on the net which claims that dm_crypt supports encoding by directory, but every HOWTO article I can find so far deals only with disks or partitions. I'll keep looking.
Thanks, Frank :) And looking forward to the time you can join one or more teams ;)

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes. You might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager
