Description of problem: Installing Alpha2 I discovered that though I did choose Estonian at the install only Mageia tools was translated but not KDE, LibreOffice, Firefox. For all them, language packages has to be installed separately. And even after that the main menu sections (Internet, Multimedia, Office etc.) and subsections were in English (though not the application names themselves) - I don't know where the translation for them come from in Mageia, in Mandriva they came IIRC from menu-messages-main/contrib/non-free, isn't they included in Mageia? I'm not sure but libreoffice-langpack-et, firefox-et and kde-l10n-et were there, just not installed automatically at the install (well, same for hunspell-et which was installed as dependency for libreoffice-langpack-et).

Maybe... though it doesn't explain why KDE and Firefox translations were not installed... I remember vaguely similar problem in Mandriva some years (about six? seven?) ago but, alas, don't remember how it was solved. In nutshell: when user chooses a language at the install then available language packages should be installed, too.

There's no locales-ee package in the *idx files, nor in /media/core/release on distrib-coffee. locales-si is in both, though.

If you did mean Estonian locale, it is locales-et, not -ee.

Yeah, that's not very uncommon mistake: abbreviation of Estonian language is et and abbreviation of Estonia is ee - and as abbreviation of Ethiopia is et, too, there has been many misunderstandings about that...
The same for polish language. Please add missing language packages (kde, firefox, thunderbird...) to rpmsrate like in mandriva ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.mandriva.com/MandrivaLinux/official/2010.1/i586/media/media_info/rpmsrate

Looks like rpmsrate-raw was not using wrapper before landing to official repository. This is now fixed, you can test it using network install

I just tested with a network install, and while kde is localised, libreoffice still misses the i18n rpms.

It was a french install, so it is libreoffice-langpack-fr that was missing.

Just found finally the faulty rpmsrate. Was using indeed rpmsrate-raw which is not the proper one to be used. Fixed in bcd configuration for beta2 isos. Sorry for the inconvenience

It's a bug of clean-rpmsrate which doesn't expand correctly the rpmsrate. It's supposed to come with mkcd...

This was a bug in libreoffice packaging, which was not requiring the proper locales package (this is used by clean-rpmsrate to expand the localized packages, and by installer to select the appropriate i18n packages)

You can try to modify the package suffix not to use a dash, it seems clean-rpmsrate splits package name with dash characters. Renaming as langpack-zh_Hans and langpack-zh_Hant should fix the issue (or langpack-zh_CN and langpack-zh_TW to match other packages naming)
langpack-zh_CN and langpack-zh_TW is prefered if package renaming is necessary. Would it be possible that langpack-pt-BR and langpack-pt-PT have same problem?
I just tried an installation DVD i586 Beta2 with Europe/Portuguese. LibreOffice ended up in english. So I'd say yes langpack-pt-BR and langpack-pt-PT have same problem.

I think the problem is that langpack-zh-Hans require locales-zh, langpack-zh-Hant require locales-zh, langpack-pt-BR require locales-pt and langpack-pt-PT require locales-pt. It seems clean-rpmsrate doesn't like langpack-XX requiring locales-YY where XX != YY (but I don't understand cleanrpmsrate function so I'm not sure). Maybe we can add locales-zh-Hans and locales-zh-Hant provides in locales-zh. And locales-pt-BR and locales-pt-PT provides in locales-pt. And update langpack-XX to require locales-XX.

AFAIK, clean-rpmsrate handle this case fine: it totally ignores the locales package name, and consider the package as localized as long as there is a locales-XX requires
Renaming packages as suggested in comment 28 should fix the issue. Tbis has to be fixed in libreoffice package.

I've fixed langpack naming for pt_BR, pt_PT, zh_CN and zh_TW in libreoffice-3.3.2.2-12.mga1 and rebuilt rpmsrate by submitting meta-task-1-24.mga1. It is now ok for these langs in the rpmsrate \o/
