Thank you for the report.
These look relevant:
 https://discourse.gnome.org/t/evolution-embed-images-in-email-with-markdown-as-html/27244
 https://evolution-932a11.pages.gitlab.gnome.org/help/oc/mail-displaying-images-in-html.html

Please look at them to see whether your case is covered therein.
Perhaps you could also post the message source code relating to an image that you refer to (not the entire message), to identify explicitly what syntax is failing.
TIA

No joy, I cannot connect to my hotmail account nor gmail account. My guess is that both require oAuth2 as authentication method. And that choice I do not see when setting up the account.

I not have better luck with my mail.com account, I not want to test with the gmail

Our current M9 version 3.48.3 is 2 1/2y old. There have been very many newer versions in Cauldron since (starting with 3.50.0).
Will commenters please say what version of Evolution they are talking about.

Serious. And this is for M9. What about M10?

I will try M10, but I don't expect anything different. In fact this is a quite common problem in other mail applications as well: e.g.the mailmerge to e-mail in LibreOffice. It works with my own provider's email, but not with gmail for the same reason
Comment 9 Herman Viaene 2025-12-27 11:34:49 CET
I was able to configure evolution 3.58.2to connect to my hotmail account as imap and receive and send mail. Didn't check issue with URL images.

Sorry; forgot to mention: this is on M10alpha1

We have provided no update of evolution at all since Mageia 9 release.

I find it a bit odd that there is not even a security update.
Or, is it so good it do not have any security issue?

At least there are fixes such as interoperability for oauth2

But not get feedback from the reporter is quite frustrating

WORK AROUND

Select an email message that you want to see the embedded images in.
Select the "View" button, (just to the right of "File", and "Edit".
A drop down list of subcommands will appear.
Select the subcommand "Load Images".

Hello all,

FWIW, I have the same problem with images, and also when I click on the combo menu where you can choose how to display attachments.
I have found a bug report for Debian that is the exact description of the problem. And a correction was provided.
