Created attachment 14931 [details] journalctl log file of failed boot Description of problem: Mageia 9 and cauldron (kernels 6.4.9 and 6.6.83) won't boot into a graphical desktop on Intel's Meteor Lake hardware, specifically Intel Graphics PCI ID 7d45 (the PC is a Lenovo Thinkpad L14 Gen. 5). The live image (kernel 6.4.9) does not boot either. This graphics device is not supported by the i915 driver used in kernel 6.6.83, according to journalctl message, see below. Intel [1] states that this hardware is supported from kernel 6.7 onwards, see also [2]. Posted first in the forum [3]. May I request an update of this driver or a similar fix? Full journalctl file from the latest failed boot attempt is attached - the behaviour is always the same. Excerpt of this file: 2025-04-01T07:06:41+0200 localhost.localdomain kernel: i915 0000:00:02.0: Your graphics device 7d45 is not properly supported by i915 in this kernel version. To force driver probe anyway, use i915.force_probe=7d45 module parameter or CONFIG_DRM_I915_FORCE_PROBE=7d45 configuration option, or (recommended) check for kernel updates. Two more links for background information on this problem, and the forum post link: [1] https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/devices/hardware-table.html [2] https://github.com/intel/compute-runtime/issues/811 [3] https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15638 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia 9 (kernels 6.4.9 and 6.6.83) and Cauldron (kernel 6.6.83), including Mageia 9 Live iso (Plasma and Xfce). How reproducible: Every boot. Steps to Reproduce: 1a. Install Mga9 or cauldron from full iso or via netinstall. Choose default kernel (6.4.9) or update to the latest kernel (6.6.83) during installation. 1b. Altenatively, use the Mageia 9 Live (kernel 6.4.9) iso on bootable USB stick. 2. Boot the PC.

(In reply to Morgan Leijström from comment #1) > Thank you for the report and investigation. > Assigning our kernel and driver maintainers. I have updated to kernel 6.6.87, but the problem described in the opening post persists.
