Description Rémi COCHET Rémi COCHET 2024-10-28 17:01:32 CET
Description of problem:
The weather applet fail to fetch weather params

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageïa 9

How reproducible:
The package did not have valid address for fetching weather informations.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use the wether applet on MATE Desktop
2.
3.

I have the same applet on MATE on openSUSE Tumbleweed which works.
Package provides same /lib64/lib64mateweather.so.1.6.9.

With ghex in hexadecimal i edited both file from Mageia and OpenSUSE
First http reference in binary is :
https://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/dataserver_current/httpparam
in Mageia. I open it in browser and get a message Request blocked

https://aviationweather.gov/cgi-bin/data/dataserver.php
in openSUSE this link work

In ghex i can replace first broken link by second working link, it is shorter, then fill with 00 until next code, and save the result in place. I disconnect from Mate-session and reconnect. Now it work.

mga9, x64

This has never worked for me.
Removed the icon from the panel and updated the packages. Reinstalled the icon in the panel and set the location to Edinburgh Airport. It updated immediately and showed the temperature as 13°C which agrees with the BBC weather report. Hovering the mouse over the cloud icon reveals that the sky is overcast, which it is.

Good to go.
