Pierre Having looked at your KDE bug, we need to be sure all these problems are really down to Plasma. Perhaps against your better judgement, please install another desktop (task-xxx), to see how things go with that; suggest Mate, neat & fast. You can always (at login) choose between them, so having another you do not use normally (Plasma in my case!) does no harm. Note that it is NOT recommended to UNinstall any desktop, so accept to be stuck with it.

Lewis, I'm back on KDE/Wayland because KDE/X11 has gone downhill very badly & quickly. Plasmashell/X11 crashes many times per hour -- about a one second restart; but it sometimes re-arranges my desktops by moving most of my app windows onto the left-most screen (3 screens: [ 1 ][ 0 ][ 2 ]) I think this issue started when I first switched from KDE/X11 to KDE/Wayland. As of yesterday, I'm back on KDE/Wayland which after 24 hours seems more stable. Wondering if the initial X11 to Wayland switch included something that affects only certain keys: - alpha-numeric and punctuation don't repeat - control and motion keys DO repeat (arrow, tab, enter, del, ...) Just tried Mate -- not interested in using it; but tried Writer and emacs. Auto-repeat works. Unless the apps handle repeat differently depending on the desktop, I think it's a KDE issue (same problem on KDE/X11 and KDE/Wayland). It is possible some apps are not aware of (new?) separate "repeat" options (alpha-numeric vs control/motion). It's interesting that LibreOffice Writer, Calc, Draw, Base don't repeat, while Impress, Math do...
Thank you for experimenting. Pity you did not like Mate. Many reported problems stem from Plasma. I have, using M9/LxQt, just played with different LibreOffice applications (which have become strangers to me), and everywhere I tried, key repeat worked. The only non-alpha keys I tried were the arrows, OK. So we can say that this *is* a Plasma quirk. Assigning to them, not expecting that they can do anything. Cauldron is never guaranteed to work...
