Update of RPM package. MuseScore 4.2 was released.
From the pkg description of 'mscore': MuseScore stands for Linux MusE Score Typesetter so I imagine this is what you mean. From the site URL: - MuseScore 4.2: A milestone update for guitarists, plus much more - MuseScore 4.2 | Linux It looks a significant update (info is on Utube...); so assigning to Yves who put up the previous two versions.

The last stable version is 4.3.2. Released June 12, 2024 https://musescore.org/en/4.3.2 The next version maybe imminent, but in my Mageia is now only available already very old version 4.0.2, and it doesn't work as never versions (something likely not to work well at all - like playback). Also please, could the RPM package be updated for current Mageia release too?
Version: Cauldron => 9
Hi, Can you give how to reproduce the problem you mention, or give a reference to a upstream bugreport, such that QA can check that a new release solve it.
The version 4.0.2 is years old. But just for example, how it works on my PC after creation 4 parts score (SATB), randomly placing notes, pushing playback button only one part from fout is heard. (not to mention my incompetence to download/put into operation special - nowadays used, mre advanced additional MuseSounds is well known)
Hello, There is now version 4.3.2 in testing. Please report if cited problem are gone. RPMS mscore-4.3.2-1.mga9 mscore-fonts-4.3.2-1.mga9 SRPMS mscore-4.3.2-1.mga9
Good to finally have this updated anyway; assigning to QA

Somehow, I didn't proceed with the checking right testing source, or cose it/checked it in MMC (sources for installation) bad: I've tried to allow/check: tainted, backports, updates, nonfree, debug ... - Testing? But without result, when used. Maybe direct link for download and installing those packages would bring the success for me.

Check what mirror are you using or set one in good shape https://mirrors.mageia.org/status , also you can use qarepo https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_Repo to not have to enable testing repository

After checked it in MCC, you have to update it.

installed the following packages: mscore-4.0.2-1.mga9.i586 mscore-fonts-4.0.2-1.mga9.noarch libopusenc0-0.2.1-3.mga9.i586 fluid-soundfont-gm-3.1-16.mga9.noarch fluid-soundfont-common-3.1-16.mga9.noarch invoked via CLI: $ mscore and via menu launcher. both ok, but a popup advises even newer version available (Ver:4.3.2) had a read of the Help - works ok. created a new score. added 2 instruments ( clarinet (in Bb ) and horn (in F), so 2 staves in Cm, 4/4, tempo=120bpm, 32 bars & added anacrusis, title=test, comp=me) followed help and entered a few notes per staff. pressed play and both instruments came through speakers ok on i586 for me. no musician by any means!

Brian, it looks like you tested the current Mageia packages, without the update to the 4.3.2 packages in comment 6.

Hello, I don't agree with the validation. > both ok, but a popup advises even newer version available (Ver:4.3.2) This needs clarification, as the supposed newer version is the version provided.
