Description of problem: Draksnapshot now works correctly in Mageia 9, but when I click "apply" (which is also a bit confusing, it should say, "create snapshot" or "create backup"), no backup status is shown. The user may think (in fact I have thought), that the process does not work, since nothing changes after clicking on the "apply" button. Draksnapshot should show the status of the backup, or a detail of what is being done, so that the user can see that the process is working correctly. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Draksnapshot on Mageia 9 How reproducible: Install and configure Draksnapshot. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Draksnapshot 2. Configure Draksnapshot 3. Apply. Then, don't show nothing about state of backup.
This is a very, very good tool of MCC, We should make that this works very fine for the Mageia users. Thanks and greetings!
Thank you for the report. Certainly a lack of information about what is happening matters. Assigning to the 'tools' group.

Ok, thanks
What appears to be happening, to my untrained eye, is *snapshot* is not creating a snapshot, as no snapshot *create* button is presented. Also snapshot-applet, which would normally present the daily / weekly / monthly event timer, is failing due to compilation errors: # draksnapshot-applet ^* matches null string many times in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/^* <-- HERE [0-9]$/ at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/MDV/Snapshot/Hal.pm line 58. I can only confirm that I don't see any applet or anything telling me that the snapshot is taking place, but the external hard drive is flashing and the copy is actually taking place. Greetings.
Any news about this? There are several users in the Telegram groups who ask me about this functionality.
It remains unresolved, one of our good weapons to conquer new users. We should put more effort into fixing this and publicize it like we did with the amdpro packages
Any news about this bug? I'm testing after all the updates we've had to Mageia 9 and the process is the same. Nothing appears about the backup being performed.

Any news about this bug? Any advance in Cauldron?
Adding the flag: affects_mga9 + to all bugs with MGA9TOO on the whiteboard, without removing MGA9TOO (for now).

@Jose: can you test the version 0.21.1 ? It adds a dialog when config is applied or failed. The applet is also fixed
OK, @Papoteur. I can see the new dialogue box, but not the applet itself. Is there a package or dependency that activates the applet? I tried this with both X11 and Wayland in Plasma. Greetings!
(In reply to Jose Manuel López from comment #12) > Is there a package or dependency that activates the applet? For what I see, the applet does not show itself in the systray, but run in the background to send notifications when removable disk are inserted or removed. I don't know how it is launched.
Mmmm, What if you want to configure an intermediate folder on the system itself and then copy it to a shared hard drive on the network? I think the applet should be displayed, furthermore, I still don't know, once the routes are configured, what the execution schedule or schedule is for the program to create the snapshots. I think it should be possible to configure the scheduling of these snapshots also from the Mageia control center, in the style of other backup or system snapshot applications.
Created attachment 15564 [details] Draksnapshot applet notice This is the draksnapshot warning that appears when I insert a USB, but I still don't know, as a user, when the system backup is made. This can lead to other problems: - I can turn off the system or remove the USB without realizing that the backup is being made and consequently damage the USB/hard drive. - I can turn off the system without the backup having finished, so there will be no backup in case I need it later. - Possible loss of data due to defective backup if needed later.
I have left it active to see how it makes the copies. From what I can verify, it takes a snapshot every hour, which seems excessive to me. That's why I think you should have the planning settings accessible so you can set them by day, week, or even manually.
