Description Morgan Leijström 2023-02-26 14:08:48 CET
Description of problem:

If your device is using Intel Rapid Storage Technology, RST (default for many new devices), Mageia installer can not operate unless you disable RST in UEFI/BIOS setup.

Problem then is that the message the installer emits is not comprehensible unless you know about the problem.

See https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/qa-discuss/2023-02/msg00293.html

Suggestion:
Please improve the message so people understand or can find answer i.e in our wiki.
*No change in code required* so I think it can be implemented for next beta/RC.

Suggested in thread:
"Please disable RAID / RST in your BIOS in order to install Mageia on this machine"

I have prepared a wiki page on RST to possibly link to:
(from information further down that thread)
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Install_on_device_using_RST

And have asked on doc-discuss for inclusion in installer manual
https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/doc-discuss/2023-02/msg00012.html

Version-Release:
Current installer, i.e mga9b1

How reproducible:
Already trapped more than one people testing pre beta 1

Thus it would be really good to have it implemented ASAP, for Mageia 9 release.
