Description of problem: I have a new Mageia 8 system with an Nvidia RTX 3050 graphics card in it. The RTX 3050 is not supported by x11-driver-video-nvidia-current, which is currently at Nvidia 470. It also is apparently not supported by nouveau. When I boot my Mageia 8 computer it get a blank screen and no graphics support. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot the computer After installing the Nvidia proprietary driver, the RTX 3050 graphics card does not work. While booting, the grub menu is displayed (text based). Then the splash screen is displayed. After booting, the screen is blank and no graphics are displayed. Nvidia says that the RTX 3050 is only supported by the 510 release of their driver. Installing x11-driver-video-nvidia-current installs the Nvidia 470 version on Mageia 8, which does not support the card. I switched to nouveau, and it throws an error [ 18.567] (II) [drm] nouveau interface version: 1.3.1 [ 18.567] (EE) Unknown chipset: NV176 It also boots to a blank screen and no graphics support. The package x11-driver-video-nvidia-current-510.60.02-2.mga9.nonfree.x86_64.rpm is in cauldron. It would be great if we could backport it to Mageia 8 to support the RTX 3050 card.
Assigning to the kernel team.

There is a thread on the forum about this request. https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=14555 I have resolved the issue on my system by downloading and manually installing the Nvidia driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-510.60.02.run. The RTX 3050 chipset does work with the 510 driver, so a backport should solve the issue in Mag8.
I will probably get to it today or tomorrow...
