Description David Walser 2021-05-19 00:05:58 CEST
PuTTY 0.75 has been released on May 8:

One change I don't believe they listed is that it supports rsa-sha2-256 and rsa-sha2-512, which is important as some SSH servers don't support rsa-sha1 any more.

Comment 5 Herman Viaene 2023-02-01 16:49:39 CET
MGA8-64 MATE on Acer Aspire 5253
No installation issues
Ref bug 26875 for testing
Starting putty and connect to my desktop PC (opening SSH in firewall: works OK.
Tried command
$ putty -X -l prutser
could connect, changed /etc/sshd/sshd_config to allow X11Forwarding, restarted sshd, but still I could not open an X-application like kwrite. Well, I could enter the command, no error feedback, I see the process kwrite is runnng on the desktop PC, but the application window is nowhere to see.
I think my ignorance shows here .....
Can someone else test the X11Forwarding, I would agree on the OK.

Did you enable X forwarding in PuTTY?
Comment 7 Herman Viaene 2023-02-02 09:14:37 CET
Yes, that's what the "-X" at the CLI does. Anyway, I doublechecked.
Comment 8 Nicolas Salguero 2023-04-21 09:23:11 CEST

When I tried launching xev, I had no problem with X11Forwarding with:
putty -X -l <the_user> <the_distant_server>

Moreover, I rather regularly use putty 0.76 without noticing any issue.

Best regards,

But the version in core updates testing is putty-0.78-1.mga8.x86_64
Only a typo on your side?

Yes, it was a typo, sorry. I tested with putty-0.78-1.mga8.x86_64.
Comment 11 Thomas Andrews 2023-04-23 16:06:20 CEST
So, to sum up, Herman said he would not object to an OK if someone else checked X forwarding, and Nicolas says he uses it regularly, including X forwarding, with no issues.

That should be enough. Giving this an OK, and validating.
