PuTTY 0.75 has been released on May 8: https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/changes.html One change I don't believe they listed is that it supports rsa-sha2-256 and rsa-sha2-512, which is important as some SSH servers don't support rsa-sha1 any more.

MGA8-64 MATE on Acer Aspire 5253 No installation issues Ref bug 26875 for testing Starting putty and connect to my desktop PC (opening SSH in firewall: works OK. Tried command $ putty -X -l prutser could connect, changed /etc/sshd/sshd_config to allow X11Forwarding, restarted sshd, but still I could not open an X-application like kwrite. Well, I could enter the command, no error feedback, I see the process kwrite is runnng on the desktop PC, but the application window is nowhere to see. I think my ignorance shows here ..... Can someone else test the X11Forwarding, I would agree on the OK.

Did you enable X forwarding in PuTTY?
Yes, that's what the "-X" at the CLI does. Anyway, I doublechecked.
