The translation of the distribution hasn't started right now. The sysadmin-Team is working on an translation environment. If it's ready the translation teams can start their work. So please be patient :) But maybe this specific bug is related to upstream? Regards, TeaAge

Upstream translations are incomplete. This is no problem with Mageia translations.

After further investigation, it turns out that a lot of valid translations seem to have been erroneously excluded (for unknown reason) in the upstream release and this affects most of the languages. New system-config-printer packages which include these translations are currently available in updates_testing. The updated package should complete most of the missing translations. I've tested the updated package without averse consequences myself (though I must admit I'm not an active user of this package myself as I have no printer hooked up to my Mageia box).

Thanks for the information. I will test it in cauldron as soon as possible.
I've tested it in Mageia 1, on an i586 system. Using English only :-) When I connected a canon usb printer, task-printer was automatically installed, but I had to manually run system-config-printer, at which time some additional packages (task-hp-printers, etc.) were installed. The printer was not recognized by system-config-printer until I turned it off, and back on. I think there should be a message displayed to let the user know they will need to turn their printer off/on, before it will be detected. Otherwise, the package is working.

Install in Mageia 1 ist ok. Translations (german) are now ok. Thanks I think, I can close the bug?
Has anyone (with a printer) tested it on an x64 install?
My printer is connected via smb.Install was ok. Tommorrow I will test it with a direct connect.
After first connect system wants package "task-printing-misc" and then eight more packages. Nothing more happens. dmesg says, that the correct printer is connected. Via mcc (system-config-printer) I can install the printer. He is correct identified. No automatic actions.
this is a bugreport about translations here. if you have a bug please open a separate bugreport.

:-) ok, I have only replied to Dave. So I will close the bug tomorrow.
no please close only when this will be in core/updates
Ok, I will take a look on core/updates and close it after the arrival.
Before it gets pushed to updates, it should be tested on a 64 bit install, preferably by someone who reads German. I agree a separate bug report is needed for the problem I mentioned, which should not hold up this update. Any German reading qa members available?
I have tested on a (german) 64 bit system.
Package should go to updates now then. I've opened bug 1905 for the usage problem.
Package pushed to updates.
