This is because your system has been classified as needing a light desktop. This is done for systems where: - available RAM < 100MB - i586 and CPU frequency < 350MHz - system is a netbook In your case, your system is classified as a netbook because it has an Intel Atom processor. So the installer is working as designed. Whether that's the right thing to do is another matter. epiphany and evolution are on the ISO, so you can manually select them.
Sidenote: I think the RAM limit should be upped...

(In reply to Martin Whitaker from comment #4) > So the installer is working as designed. > Whether that's the right thing to do is another matter. Exactly, it seem to need adjustment. That netbook is a 4x1,9 Ghz Atom, with 2GB Ram -> probably no problem. Maybe skip evaluating depending on "netbook"? And up RAM and CPU freq limits a big step! Like <1,5GB RAM, <1,5 GHz? Example: have a small one core 64 bit atom 1,6GHz 1GB that have difficulties running Firefox decently in Xfce. It works when i need for some login, but else Falkon is my friend there - It really need lightweight DE and apps. (When my friend dumped the machine to me it was "running" the preinstalled MWS7 painfully sluggishly too) My elder Thinkad T43 one core 32 bit 1,5Ghz beats the former in performance probably partly because of the 2GB RAM.
