Hi,
if I refer to this site : http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/?dir_pagestart=3000

klavaro is in the cauldron. But I can't find it in the mageia2-beta3 !?
that's the first reason why I was impatient to have mageia2!

Now according to this site : http://www.mail-archive.com/mageia-dev@mageia.org/msg09433.html

klavaro was abandoned. Why? Will it be added in the future?
Comment 4 Manuel Hiebel 2012-04-19 22:17:07 CEST
klavaro is in the svn but was never build into cauldron

adjusted Fedora klavaro.spec

Fedora has a newer version, attached is the Fedora spec file that has been adjusted for Mageia.

I don't understand what their patch does and I didn't test the spec.

It needs gtkdatabox-devel, there was a gtkdatabox package in Mdv 2010.x

What is great about Klavaro, is that you can use it with *any* keyboard

Klavaro is now available in Cauldron, thank you for your patience. Can you test and see if it works?

Installed the cauldron package + cauldron gtkdatabox-devel in Mageia 2 (X86_64) and it works great.

This is the first typing tutor that works well with my keyboard layout. All I had to do was add a custom layout, which can be done very easily in Klavaro
Comment 8 Marja Van Waes 2012-08-29 13:51:08 CEST
other way around, btw, I installed gtkdatabox-devel first
Comment 9 Marja Van Waes 2012-08-29 15:32:25 CEST
For some reason I can't adjust the keyboard layout in Klavaro in cauldron (in none of my cauldrons) :(
Comment 10 Marja Van Waes 2012-08-29 16:47:44 CEST
Klavaro works fine with IceWM in cauldron, though
Comment 11 Marja Van Waes 2012-08-29 16:49:02 CEST
oops, forgot to say that the cauldrons where it won't work are all KDE

for who wants to test:

What should work is:

click on the button next to "Keyboard"
scroll up to the top of the available languages
click on "(Custom)"
see a keyboard appear
click on one or more keys to change them to the keys you choose with your real keyboard
Save the new keyboard lay-out

The last two things don't work for me

Comment 13 Angelo Naselli 2012-08-29 22:24:38 CEST
If you right click on the key you want to change and paste something on it, from that point on you can modify all. Just a workaround, but it works.

I'm experiencing this issue even on lxde (cauldron).

Angelo, as I can see on my machine, a single right click is enough to make it work. That's quite strange.

With version 1.9.7 it works fine (and maybe already with an in between version, but I didn't test that).

My mentor hopes to find time soon to check my klavaro.spec.patch (attached)

I'll see how we can get your changes commited, normally you should already have the permissions to do so.
Patch looks good.

I just saw the gettext BuildRequire isn't in the spec

Changing the language (for a text to type) doesn't work in a klavaro I just tested. I'm pretty sure it did work with the adjusted Fedora spec file, where that BR was added.

I'll retest after adding that BuildRequire

I should have checked last in-between version!

This set-and-save keyboard problem was already fixed then!

The problem I saw yesterday with my newer version, was probably a PBKAC (caused by a lack of sleep :-/ )

Closing as fixed (since at least klavaro-1.9.6-3.mga3)
