Description Elmar Stellnberger 2020-06-11 12:43:47 CEST
The following file is empty when I unzstd that file:
/var/lib/urpmi/Core Updates/synthesis.hdlist.cz

It is also empty on the mirror servers:
http://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/updates/media_info/
http://ftp.fau.de/mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/updates/media_info/

> urpmi --auto-update:
Medium »Core Updates« ist auf dem aktuellen Stand
Medium »Nonfree Updates« ist auf dem aktuellen Stand
    http://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/release/media_info/20200611-095119-synthesis.hdlist.cz

…Holen fehlgeschlagen: curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found

"Core Release/synthesis.hdlist.cz" seems to contain a valid repository description though unxzstd complains that the file is called .cz rather than .zstd.

Using the Firefox browser is currently not possible because it can not acknowledge unknown certificates and many CAs are unknown also here with falkon.

I do not think this is due to a broken mirror. I tried two. If not give me a working mirror. Otherwise this should not be a dup. What about the error about Firefox, I have reported?

But is: hdlist.cz	2019-08-01 15:39

Try the french ones in special distrib-coffee
Comment 5 Dave Hodgins 2020-06-11 21:36:16 CEST
Sorry, I misread the above. There is no problem with that mirror.

Unlike in a stable release, in cauldron updates replace the packages in
the release repo instead of being added to the updates testing repo and then
moved to the updates repo after being qa tested.

It's normal in cauldron for the updates repos to be empty.

There are experimental packages in updates testing for cauldron, but they
either get moved to the release repo when ready, or eventually get deleted.

Apologies for the confusion I added. Changing the status to invalid, since it
is not actually a bug.

Resolution: DUPLICATE => INVALID

Please read the full report. I told that there is an error using the synthesis.hdlist.cz of the main repo.

I regret of that in distrib-coffee

[ ]	hdlist.cz	2019-08-01

The fun part is what the metadata for dnd are fresher 2020-06-07

(In reply to Dave Hodgins from comment #2)

the urpmi metadata are not updated for cauldron in distrib-coffee so the error is propagated to all mirrors

Comment 8 Dave Hodgins 2020-06-11 22:03:03 CEST
The report is about http://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/updates/media_info/

Note the path contains core/updates. The core updates repo is empty, expected
to be empty, and has been since it was created.

http://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/release/media_info/ is not empty.

As above, the release repos in cauldron get updated in a way that replaces
what was there before.

http://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/release/media_info/20200611-095119-synthesis.hdlist.cz
no longer exists.

As I post this , the current version is
http://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/release/media_info/20200611-172808-synthesis.hdlist.cz

That file will get deleted and replaced with a new one the next time that mirror
syncs, assuming there has been at least one package built for cauldron core
release during that time.

With cauldron, if you obtain the list of available packages, the mirror syncs,
and then you try to download a package or file that has been replaced, the
file will not be found. That is normal and expected. Cauldron users have to try
again, starting with getting the updated list of packages and files available,
when ever a package or mirror file download fails.

Closing again as invalid. Feel free to reopen if I'm still misreading things.
