Description of problem: add arj archiver and other file archiver programs for old and new format Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Hi Horacio, Is this the correct arj archiver : http://sourceforge.net/projects/arj/ ? Can you please add links for the other file archiver programs you request? I guess you only want one of them. If you need them all, I think it is better to do separate requests for each of them. With corresponding links, please.

(In reply to comment #2) > it exists in mandriva 2010.2 ! I understand that you want to help, Philippe, thank you. However, not all packagers are familiar with Mandriva. Towards them it would be nicer to give the upstream link instead of saying that Mandriva has it.
I meant : 1) it's important to have it in mageia1 updates repo 2) we can easily find spec file (to adapt) and patches not to re invent the wheel here they come as attachments

The program is shareware. From http://www.arjsoftware.com/faq.htm#o5 Commercial users must have a registered copy of ARJ to make the ARJ archives. Shouldn't this program go in Nonfree?

According to http://sourceforge.net/projects/arj/ it's GPL. Maybe it's not the same version ?

More info here - http://arj.sourceforge.net/ The open source version is different from the commercial one. It hasn't been updated since 2005 though so not sure what security implications it will have. From testing it shows copyright notices from ARJ Software Russia. That does seem to imply this is perhaps not the open source version! Testing x86_64 $ arj a xml.arj *.xml ARJ32 v 3.10, Copyright (c) 1998-2004, ARJ Software Russia. > That does seem to imply this is perhaps not the open source version! No, this is the open-source version. Please look at the SRPM if you wonder. It is the same source ase Fedora and Debian at least.

Ok. The http://sourceforge.net/projects/arj/ does have info about "Migrating from shareware and commercial versions". When I looked at the list of files installed, I saw the arj-register command and man page with led me to the http://www.arjsoftware.com/ site. I'm surprised an open source version would keep the registration command and info from the shareware version. Testing complete on i586, where I created, listed the contents of, and extracted an archive. Could someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm arj-3.10.22-7.1.mga1.src.rpm from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates Advisory: This update provides the arj command line archive tool available in Mandriva 2010.2, but missing from Mageia 1. https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2657
