Thank you for the comment, and especially the screenshot which shows the complaint precisely. [My system, nominally Welsh but with English backup, does not have this item at all in MCC! About which I am *not* complaining.] Assigning to Mageia tools team for MCC; CC papoteur for IsoDumper. Not sure where the responsibility lies.

Sorry, my mistake. The other target should be DavidG as the active maintainer for isoDumper.

Still good in English. I can't test French, or other languages, but I have put a request out on the QA ML for testers who can.

Tested here on my mga7 for x86_64 and French system, confirmed that now the description of Isodumper is translated in French. Also no regression found!
(In reply to David GEIGER from comment #7) > Tested here on my mga7 for x86_64 and French system, confirmed that now the > description of Isodumper is translated in French. Also no regression found! And yet Herman reports that the issue continues in Dutch systems. I know that the original report specifically named French, but shouldn't we try to correct this for ALL the languages we support?
For the locale pt_PT.UTF-8 it works correctly. I also tried with the locales fr, fr_FR and fr_FR.UTF-8. None of these worked and drakconf used the C (english) locale. Maybe I'm not setting the FR locale correctly. $ rpm -qa | grep locales locales-2.29-3.mga7 locales-fr-2.29-3.mga7 locales-pt-2.29-3.mga7 locales-en-2.29-3.mga7 $ locale LANG=pt_PT.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_TIME="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_NAME="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="pt_PT.UTF-8" LC_ALL= $ LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 ; LANGUAGE=fr_FR:fr $ locale LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_TIME="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_NAME="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_ALL=

(In reply to Thomas Andrews from comment #8) > And yet Herman reports that the issue continues in Dutch systems. I know > that the original report specifically named French, but shouldn't we try to > correct this for ALL the languages we support? The problem for Dutch is that nobody translated it, for example on transifex. Only Dutch speaker can improve this.
(In reply to papoteur from comment #11) > The problem for Dutch is that nobody translated it, for example on > transifex. Only Dutch speaker can improve this. I suppose that means it's the same for our other languages/locales, too. That explains the results that PC LX saw. Sigh. You'd think that in this day and age there would be a more efficient way to do this sort of thing.
Does this mean that each and every application has to be translated individually, while 90% (or more!!) of the terms are identical to other applications and have already been translated????
(In reply to Herman Viaene from comment #13) > Does this mean that each and every application has to be translated > individually, while 90% (or more!!) of the terms are identical to other > applications and have already been translated???? Translations in an application is not only terms, but also expressions or sentences. Each translation has to be done. Some tools use translation memories, but much most of these memories are specific to each application.
So it would seem that transloation into languages other than French is beyond the intention of this bug. Since French is working, I'll give it an OK and validate. Advisory in Comment 4.

(In reply to Thomas Andrews from comment #15) > So it would seem that transloation into languages other than French is > beyond the intention of this bug. Since French is working, I'll give it an > OK and validate. Advisory in Comment 4. Well, my intention was to describe the bug as I can see it, but I agree with you: we should try to fix it for all the languages we support… That's why I've just sent a message on the i18n-discuss mailing list.
Well, just installed isodumper (1.15-2.mga8.noarch.rpm) and yes, it's description in MCC is in English (though application itself is in Estonian and that string is translated in Transifex)
Created attachment 11403 [details] MCCin Estonian with Isodumper string in English
Created attachment 11404 [details] Isodumper itself in Estonian
Rescinding the validation in the light of the last four comments, one of which was a clarification of intent from the reporter. I'm now asking for some feedback from the developers. It seems that we have a bigger problem here than just missing support for one language. Would it be better to expand this bug to encompass other languages and send it back, or validate this one and bring up the other languages in a new bug?

Now rescinding the OK. While the package presented to QA fixes the issue for French, the underlying issue regarding languages other than English has not been addressed.

Yes, this is the only way. For what I know, we never stopped release of a tool because some translations in any language are incomplete.
Just checked over, now the text is translated

I'm confused. Removing the feedback tag, because there is some activity here again... Marek, is Comment 24 with the version of drakconf listed for this bug? And for papoteur and Jose, if Marek isn't using this drakconf, does that mean the problem has somehow resolved itself, and this update is no longer needed?
Keywords: feedback => (none)
I think this update is needed. In French, this is OK with drakconf-13.23-1.mga7. Since this release, translations for Czech, Portuguese, Spanish, Esperanto and Dutch has been added. A new release is needed to add them. http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/control-center/log/
Translated version: drakconf 13.23-2.mga8 isodumper 1.16-3.mga8

A new release is needed to add them. > http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/control-center/log/ Thank you for that reply. That is why I asked for feedback, wondering which way we should go to get more translations. Your comment answers that. It's also helpful that Marek is seeing an Elbonian translation now, too. I have been using this drakconf for months, with no problems. Unfortunately, as English is my only language, I couldn't test any translations. I just checked the update on another machine, and installation still goes smoothly. So then, we need to pass this one along, see which languages still need translations, and go from there. Validating once more. Advisory still in Comment 4.
