Description of problem: I used a brother office printer/scanner (MFC-J5730DW) with mga6 without problems. The brother linux-printer-installer and the printer and scanner drivers worked very good. Now I did the Online-Upgrade to mga7. It worked without problems but since first start of mga7 the printer and scanner didn't work. I installed CUPS and SANE components new and ran the brother linux-brprinter-installer. Then the printer worked again without problems but the scanner with root rights only. I check udev but under /etc/udev/rules.d is a file named 60.brother.brscan4-libsane-type1.rules. This should ensure that standard users can use the scanner too. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Linux 5.3.7-desktop-4.mga7 #1 SMP Thu Oct 24 20:11:12 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux How reproducible: Start Xsane oder Simple Scan with a normal user and you will get "no device found"
See also bug 20037. That refers to /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/, well populated on my system including 60-libsane.rules; not /etc/udev/rules.d - which on my system is empty. Assigning to base system group.
