Description of problem: Youtube-dl cannot extract video title any more (after google modifed something), and, hence, the movies are not named correctly any more Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): youtube-dl-2019.07.16-1.mga6 How reproducible: Starting around 2 days ago: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start youtube-dl with the demanded youtube resource 2. You see just this: $ youtube-dl -f 18 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F47b1QL2jIE' [youtube] F47b1QL2jIE: Downloading webpage [youtube] F47b1QL2jIE: Downloading video info webpage WARNING: Unable to extract video title and the file will be named something like '_-F47b1QL2jIE.mp4' instead. From other distributions we see, that this is not related to Mageia only -- obviously google changed something. So, MGA7 and 8 are expected to be affected, too. Can someone please inform upstream resorce about this? Thanks!
Its Valid for Mageia 7 also, update to latest version fix the issue

Seems to be the same in MGA7: ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/distrib/7/SRPMS/core/updates/youtube-dl-2019.07.16-1.mga7.src.rpm If core/updates holds the most recent version, then this one was released BEFORE google made the modification around 3 days ago. Maybe we could do a curl to the related html page and sed / grep the title for use as file name?
(In reply to Markus Robert Keßler from comment #0) > Can someone please inform upstream resorce about this? > Thanks! There is an extensive section at the bottom of the manual page that starts, BUGS Bugs and suggestions should be reported at: <https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/issues>. ... and includes, Are you using the latest version? Before reporting any issue, type youtube-dl -U. This should report that you're up-to-date. About 20% of the reports we receive are already fixed, but people are us‐ ing outdated versions. This goes for feature requests as well. ..................... At the issues url, following the search syntax help, I searched on `is:issue Unable to extract video title in:title` and that yielded: https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/issues?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=is%3Aissue+Unable+to+extract+video+title+in%3Atitle There are multiple recent results and it seems this issue is resolved. I had not hit the issue until just now and first tried, as root, `youtube-dl -U`, which got the title to download on the video I was trying. This is about the third time some issue was resolved by upgrading the program with -U in my experience. First, searching the issue at the bug url gave me an idea of the progress and when to expect the fix as the bug got closed. It seems cumbersome to likely have these issues repeatedly showing up @ bugs.mageia.org Not many will read the package info, I suspect, but adding something about this to it might help. IDK Rolf
