Description Muhammad Tailounie 2019-07-06 16:08:54 CEST
Some applications like hplip among others, would fail to start under Gnome DE in Mageia 7 64-bit. The error I get is that no systray detected.

How reproducible:
Try to launch hplip under a fresh installation of Mageia 7 Gnome DE 64-bit. I cannot remember the other applications that also failed.

Gnome no longer has a Systray (alas). Mageia offers an effective substitute by providing (they should already be installed):
- gnome-tweaks
- gnome-shell-extension-topicons
but the latter need to be activated by the user, being not standard Gnome:
"from the Applications menu, run the "Tweaks" application, select "Extensions" in the sidebar, and enable the "Topicons plus" extension. Whilst there, you can also click on the cogwheel icon to change some settings, e.g. the position of the system tray on the top panel."

This should have been in the Release Notes; too late.
