Description Garth Hoyman 2011-08-01 16:33:58 CEST
Include
GKSU in basic package, so it is possible to modify system files
Comment 1 Manuel Hiebel 2011-08-02 00:29:54 CEST
you can use su - for that ...

Summary: Include root access as administrator => Include gksu in the iso
Severity: normal => enhancement

Comment 2 Garth Hoyman 2011-08-02 01:09:38 CEST
I was trying to edit
/boot/grub/menu.lst
which required gedit as root
more here
https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=863&p=6382#p6382
so having GKSU installed isn't a necessitity
maybe a package of tools for intermediate users
I couldn't figure out how to us su to get where I needed to go
thanks for your hard work
Comment 3 Thierry Vignaud 2011-08-09 16:01:42 CEST
I don't think we need that one on CDs but anyway let's fix the RPM package field

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Comment 6 Garth Hoyman 2012-06-13 02:36:18 CEST
I was really asking for an enhancement
since I'm running KDE these days, no more gedit
no idea if it's possible to edit configuration files on M2
Comment 7 Anne Nicolas 2013-10-27 22:13:35 CET
KDE uses kdesu which is part of kdebase4-runtime. gksu is part of isos at least on Mageia 4 devel. Closing this bug then

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => FIXED
