Description of problem: After switching to the latest kernel 4.14.40, my PC was extremely slow to boot up, to log me in, to launch any application. I was unable to suspend the PC too. I believe there was a problem with the system DBus but don't know how to investigate. Choosing the previous kernel (srpm: kernel-4.14.30-3.mga6.src.rpm), everything worked fine. I'm running this kernel right now but not the latest one. I've tried 2 times to come back to the latest kernel and I had the same issue, so it's always reproducible with my configuration. How reproducible: Everytime you choose the latest kernel at boot.
Same problem here and same solution. The PC is unusable with the latest kernel.

You are probably hit by this: Bug 23060 - kernel-desktop-4.14.40-1.mga6-1-1.mga6 : Slow boot You could try the new kernel 4.14.40-1.3 from that bug

Please try if this kernel http://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/mageia.org/people/tmb/mga6/bugs/23060/ solves your problem.

It does! Both the slow boot and the hibernation problems are solved with the kernel update (and its 3 dependencies) in "core update testing" and "non-free update testing". I have no idea if it's a duplicate indeed, my hibernation problem is not mentioned but it does not really matter as this bug can be closed for me.
