Description Tomasz Konojacki 2018-03-20 11:48:50 CET
Mageia's kernel includes rtl8812au driver (see #21043), but unfortunately, it's severely outdated.

In the latest upstream version include/rtw_version.h looks like this:

#define DRIVERVERSION "v5.2.20_25672.20171213"

compared to Mageia's:

#define DRIVERVERSION	"v4.2.2_7502.20130517"

The latest driver can be found there: https://github.com/gordboy/rtl8812au

I need the update because my card has trouble connecting to 5 ghz networks (2.4ghz work fine) using Mageia's version of the driver. With the newest version there are no issues.

Thank you, I've updated to 4.14.30-3 and network seems to work correctly.

Unfortunately the v5.2.20 code drop is broken for several hw that worked with the older code, so I have to revert to the v4.2.2 based driver for now until we get it all sorted out

Comment 5 Aurelien Oudelet 2020-08-16 16:59:46 CEST
Mageia 6 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2019-09-30. It is no longer
maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug
fix updates.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan
to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to
a later Mageia version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we
weren't able to fix it before Mageia 6's end of life. If you are able to
reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click
on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent
Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them
obsolete.

If you would like to help fixing bugs in the future, don't hesitate to join the
packager team via our mentoring program [1] or join the teams that fit you
most [2].
