Description of problem: The zynaddsubfx tool was already present in mandriva 2010.2. You should add this tool (it's a midi synth). It can be downloaded from http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/

Nice. Thanks for that. Do I close the bug ? YC
No : I will submit it to updates-testing, and you will be able to report if it works.

zynaddsubfx-2.4.1-1.1.mga1 is in updates testing, please try it enabling the core/updates_testing repo and report here.

Yann, be careful not to install all updates using mgaapplet, with the updates tesing enabled, unless you're planning on joining the qa team. :-) It might be safer to just run (as root) urpmi.update Testing urpmi --media "Core Updates Testing" zynaddsubfx

thanks for these info. I will try this tonight
Oups, you certainly forgot to enable jack before compiling zynadd. Only alsa is available when starting zynaddsubfx. The cmake variables: DssiEnable:BOOL=ON <- to enable the DSSI module JackEnable:BOOL=TRUE <- to enable jack LashEnable:BOOL=1 <- to enable lash YC
Do you have recompiled the package so as to add jack support to zynaddsubfx ? YC
Assigning Jose. Could you reassign QA when you have had a chance to look into comment 7. Thankyou :)

zynaddsubfx-2.4.1-1.2.mga1 should try to use jack, then switch to OSS (so ALSA so PA)
On my side, I started jack using qjackctl and then I started zynaddsubfx using a command line: /usr/bin/zynaddsubfx. I open then qjackctl connection dialog and zynaddsubfx is not in the output port section of the audio tab of the connection dialog. I've got a zynaddsubfx in the alsa tab, but to be useable, zynaddsubfx must open an output connection in the audio tab. The jack capability must be enabled at compile time. YC
Assigning José. Please reassign QA when you've had a chance to look at this. Thanks :)

(In reply to comment #11) > The jack capability must be enabled at compile time. > I think you did not understand me : zynaddsubfx-2.4.1-1.2 in updates_testing is now compiled with jack enabled. I have just tested it, and it appears in qjackctl/audio.
Sorry, I finally managed to check to good repo. I installed the latest version of zynadd and now, it works fine. I can see it on qjackctl. Best regards, YC
Testing complete on i586 for the srpm zynaddsubfx-2.4.1-1.2.mga1.src.rpm Just using the virtual keyboard to make some noise. :-)
I used an external keyboard (LPK25) and it worked fine. Yc
Yann, did you test on i586 or x86-64?
Tested on i586.
Thanks José Tested x86_64 - Update validated Advisory -------------- This adds ZynAddSubFX which was present in Mandriva 2010 but missing from Mageia 1. http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/ -------------- SRPM: zynaddsubfx-2.4.1-1.2.mga1.src.rpm Could sysadmin please push from core/updates_testing to core/updates Thankyou!
