The "drakconf" program has crashed with the following error: Could not locate symbol webkit_web_view_new at /usr/lib/libDrakX/mygtk3.pm line 621. I recently upgraded to MGA7 with a netinstall iso on key and get the crash with bugreport window. Funny thing, in MGA6, the authentication window specifies root password is required with "Password for root:" explicit but, in MGA7, the request is only "Password:". lib64hyphen0 was already installed. Is this isolated to corner cases? Seems more than 'normal' to me. Are more system facts needed?

Hi Rolf, Did you try to install lib64hyphen0?

(In reply to papoteur from comment #24) > Hi Rolf, > Did you try to install lib64hyphen0? Hi Yves, As I said, lib64hyphen0 was already installed. Let me try to describe three of the computers I have running 64-bit Mageia, only one of which produces the mcc crash. 1. Not yet upgraded MGA6 ASRock Z77 Extreme4, KDE Plasma 5.12.2, authentication window, screenie to be attached, asks for root password and mcc launches. 2. Upgraded from MGA6->7 by verified Mageia-7.1-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso on usb key, "burn" by balenaEtcher verified by `cmp', Dell/Wyse D90D7, LXDE 0.10.0, authentication window, screenie to be attached, asks for root password and mcc launches. 3. Problematic machine upgraded from MGA6->7 by verified Mageia-7.1-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso on usb key, "burn" by balenaEtcher verified by `cmp', ASUS Z170I, authentication window, screenie to be attached, asks only for "Password". When root password is given, a red message box declares, "Authentication failed, please try again." When my only normal user password is tried, the Mageia Bug Report Tool pops up declaring mcc has crashed. Working upgrade is LXDE while crashing upgrade is Plasma but who knows?

I give the root password and get the red box, "Authentication failure, please try again", several times, checking the password. I try the user password and the dialog just disappears, nothing more. I called mcc as root in cli and, the first time, the gui program launched, could be navigated, set up a wireless connection, so far so good. After that, calling mcc or drakconf thus gives the console version, no gui, and the following messages: [root@z170i rolf]# mcc Too late to run INIT block at /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/Glib/Object/Introspection.pm line 257. No protocol specified Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused [root@z170i rolf]# I tried to reboot, found the power applet wasn't responsive, so rebooted from the menu. This is a now-and-again corruption in plasma that might require going to the keyboard to reboot/shutdown. After reboot, power applet seemed functional and I tried the MCC icon -> same result with red error, failed authentication. Called as root from cli, the gui opened with the following console messages: [root@z170i rolf]# mcc Too late to run INIT block at /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/Glib/Object/Introspection.pm line 257. "cannot run /usr/sbin/isodumper" since it is not installed [Writing ISO] at /usr/libexec/drakconf line 833. Called that way a second and third time, the gui Control Center opened the same way. Back to the tray icon and failed authentication, repeated four times. Last resort, I opened the menu and launched Control Center from there but authentication failed.

Mageia 7 is EOL since July 1st 2021. There will not have any further bugfix for this release. You are encouraged to upgrade to Mageia 8 as soon as possible. @reporter, if this bug still apply with Mageia 8, please let us know it. @packager, if you work on the Mageia 7 version of your package, please check the Mageia 8 package if issue is also present. In this case, please fix the Mageia 8 version instead. This bug report will be closed OLD if there is no further notice within 1st September 2021.
After all that work? No, I have not seen this bug at all under Mageia 8.
