Description Jiri Hoblik 2017-07-04 13:17:10 CEST
Description of problem:

The distribution 6rc is very fast, but sometimes it suddenly freezes, so I can not communicate with it even though it self is still working (eg playing music).

Thanks for your report. Can you give more information?

* Does it only temporarily freeze?

* Please attach output.txt that is the result of running (in a konsole or
  terminal):

       lspcidrake -v > output.txt

* Please reboot after you have such a freeze again and then run, as _root_

       journalctl -b-1 > journal.txt

and do also attach journal.txt to this report.

Thanks, unfortunately it doesn't show the freeze, but the preceding kde (plasma) errors may be related. Assigning to KDE team

Bug 26495 may be another duplicate.
 https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26495#c5
says:
"This problem has been regularly reported both here and more importantly at KDE;
just go to KDE and search "plasma freezes" (see e.g. bug 4525250).
From the comments this appears to be a Plasma problem, not a Mageia problem."

Hi, I suggest removing of all KDE/Plasma related config files in your home directory when you are logged in a tty (Console and not in X)

in ~/.config feel free to remove all KDE or Plasma related files. This must be done on a tty and not in a graphical session.

KDE comment on "plasma freezes" versions 5:19 and 5:18

Acording to the Mageia release notes it will use Plasma 5.20, so perhaps the note re version 5:19 suggests that the bug has autocorrected (see the note on 5:18) it self.

I believe that there is a typo in the statement:
just go to KDE and search "plasma freezes" (see e.g. bug 4525250).

bug number 425252 was probably meant.

And speaking of typos, replace "it self" by "itself" in comment 10

This is a sadly too old bug reported against a time Cauldron was Mageia 6 cooking time.

We are sorry, but we no longer maintains this version of Mageia. Please upgrade to the latest version and reopen this bug against that version if this bug exists there.

Also, Mageia 8 is released to a mirror next you.
As a result we are setting this bug to CLOSED:OLD
